Just an FYI, you can hit Ctrl+Tab to sort of do this today in modern browsers. However, it's Ctrl+Tab to progress forward through tabs, and Ctrl+Shift+Tab to progress backwards through them. Not as easy to press and not as quick as "jumping back and forth" but thought I'd share nonetheless.
